The South Okanagan streches from the US border near Osoyoos in the South to Summerland, just north of Penticton on the shores of Okanagan Lake. The area is know for its hot, dry summers, beautiful lakes, orchards and wineries.

Penticton, translated from native Salish, means a place to live forever, anyone who visits can understand why! The town is bordered on the north and south by two beautiful lakes and surrounded by hills and spectacular cliffs. The beaches and parks are well laid out and the people are welcoming. To be more precise Penticton is located on Highway 97 in the south Okanagan, between Okanagan Lake and Skaha Lake, 43 miles (68 km) south of Kelowna and 38 miles (60 km) north of Osoyoos. To the south of Penticton is Okanagan Falls, and to the north (on either side of Okanagan Lake) are Naramata and Summerland.
Winter recreation is first-class at Apex Mountain, just a short drive from Penticton. The diverse terrain and small village keep guests coming back for more. Come summer, trade your skis for hiking boots, mountain bikes or climbing equipment. The ultimate scenic mountain biking trials are along the Kettle Valley Railway bed.
Oliver is south of Penticton on Hwy 97 and is known as the "Wine Capital of Canada". Oliver has the largest concentration of both vineyards and commercial wineries in British Columbia and is renowned for the quality of wine grapes the area produces. Oliver is a must-stop on any Wine Tour of the Okanagan Valley!
At the very southern end of the South Okanagan, near the US border, you find the town of Osoyoos. Renowned for being situated in the middle of Canada´s only true desert, it is a popular vacation destination. It´s where you will find the warmest freshwater lake in all of Canada. Osoyoos is also home to North America´s first aboriginal owned winery, Nk´Mip Cellars, where the view from the patio encourages you to linger over a glass of Chardonnay on a warm fall day.
